December 13th (Saturday) I did my normal routine - gym, vacuum the car and van, quick wash job on the car and van. Then we went with Jim & Vonnie Lash to McMinnville and had dinner at Izzy's...and on to Grand Ronde for the WILSON / PHILLIPS concert. Carol got us great seats and the concert was super! They sang alot of oldies...and my favorites (Release Me and Hold On - for One More Day).

Then Monday...back to work :(
I took Friday afternoon, Dec 5th, off of work and we took the van to the airport to pick up Nancy Dyer (Denver) and Lloyd and Myrna Dyer (Kenai, Alaska). They spent the weekend in Portland and we had a great time! After dinner at Sheri's Restaurant, we went to Mom Peters' place so everyone could visit. The next morning we drove to Tillamook Cheese factory and did some sampling. Sunday we drove to the coast (Lincoln City) and did some shopping at the Christmas Cottage. Beautiful day!!! On the way home we stopped at Mo's and had fish & chips, etc. Monday I had to go back to work and our great friends Jim & Vonnie Lash (and Carol) took everyone back to the airport. It was so great to spend time with the Dyers and catch up on what's happening in everyone's life! I'll post some pics soon.

NASCAR season is over and Kevin Harvick is the Sprint Cup Chase Winner for 2014. I'm going through withdrawl on Sunday afternoons...football just isn't the same as stock car racing :)
Last weekend we took off for Tillamook and Lincoln City. It was snowing in the coastal range, but, it didn't stick to the road. We checked in to the motel and they said the electricity had been out since 5:00 a.m. and expected it to be repaired by 7:00 p.m. So, we dropped out stuff off in the room and went to Newport and the Christmas Cottage - little Christmas shopping :) On the way back, we bowled 2 games - we've both done better! We had an early dinner / late lunch at Chinook Winds in the restaurant. Cold and windy at the beach!

Thanksgiving was really nice...Carol fixed a turkey roast and I picked up Mom Peters and Millie Head. They spent the afternoon with us and watched a little football. I'll post more soon...hope everyone is well and enjoying the season.

It's been a while since I posted...lots of home projects and play off action :) (sorry Royals!!!).
Holloweeen was uneventful...I think we had about 10 childrn show up. But, it was windy and light rain...not too much fun for the kids.
On Saturday we got up early and headed for Grand Ronde for breakfast... then on to the Christmas Cottage in Lincoln City! Carol ordered some special ornamaents and we wanted to pick them up. And I really like their Christmas cards that reflect coastal living. On the way back through town I took a couple of pictures near the Dee River (shortest river in the U.S.):

If you listen carefully, you can you hear the waves crashing!
After we got home, we set up the bbq and grilled hotdogs and hamburgers with Jim & Vonnie Lash. Then, we played pinocchle and watched the Ducks beat up on Stanford. Good luck to Jeff Gordon on todays race at Texas...we need a win to stay alive in The Chase!!! More to come. Have a great weekend!

Welcome to the first weekend in October! I made reservations at Seahorse Motel in Lincoln City several weeks ago, to celebrate Carol's birthday. So, we drove to Grand Ronde yesterday and Carol got her favorite turkey dinner. They have the best buffet in Oregon! Then we drove on to Lincoln City and checked into the motel. We dropped off our stuff and headed over to the Christmas Shop. The weather was great - 72 degrees - slight wind - sunny. Perfect for a walk on the beach!
Here's a few shots from the motel:

We took in a movie in the evening - Left Behind. Nicolas Cage is an airline pilot and the story is about his relationship with his family. If you get a chance...see this one. I will post more soon.

Yesterday was quite busy. I got up and went to the gym, then borrowed Carol's car and drove to Seaside to help SOLVE ( beach clean-up). SOLVE estimated 40,000 people volunteered across the state and 42 tons of debris was disposed of.

When I got home I washed the car and raked leaves with the help of Payton :)
And to top the day off....it was Mom Peters 88th Birthday!!! So, we took her out to On The Border and had a little Mexican food. Then we brought her to the house for a little cake and coffee.

Happy Birthday, Mom!!! Today we're taking her for lunch and a drive to the beach. She gets to hold Payton!
I have a lot of catching up to do, so I'll get right to it. Last weekend (Sept 20/21) we packed up the van, picked up Jim & Vonnie Lash, and headed for Skagit Valley Resort and went to hear Air Supply. We stopped at Spiffy's and had breakfast (no cinnamon rolls). Carol got great tickets about 12 rows back from the stage! On the isle. Which turned out really good for Jim, because when they came down the isles singing Russell shook his hand. Super concert and had a really great time playing Pinochle (the girls won...again). The weather was perfect and the Skagit was a really nice place to stay.

Oh, yes...and the highlight of the trip was all of the presents Carol got to open (one at a time) to celebrate her upcoming birthday. Two days of gift opening! Some were really funny and others were really cool! Thank You, Lash's!!!

We got a lot of work done Saturday: replaced the outside garage lights, installed new cabinet dividers, cleaned the BBQ.  And it was kinda hot outside - 95 degrees. So, after a shower, we drove to the beach...and it was 55 degrees and foggy. We decided to go south from Cannon Beach and I took a couple of pictures of Nehalem Bay.

We decided to have dinner in Tillamook and took Highway 6 home. Very relaxing drive and very Cool :) Here's a picture of an oyster shell hill:

Hope everyone has a good weekend...More pics soon>

Thought I'd add a couple of pictures from this mornings' walk on the beach:

Will add more soon!
After a hard week at work, Carol had previously made reservations to spend Saturday night in Lincoln City. We had tickets to see the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band - Lights Out. So, I worked out early on Saturday A.M. and we packed up the van and had lunch at Grand Ronde. Then, on to Lincoln City. We went to the car show downtown and here's a few of the cars we liked:

After the car show we went to the hotel and checked in. At 8:00 P.M. we were sitting down listening to Lights Out. They did a great job! Really enjoyed their music. Today we got up, walked on the beach for a while, had breakfast, then drove back home. Nice weekend!

I can't believe how fast the summer is going by. On August 1st Carol & I set out in the afternoon for Pendleton, OR. We spent the night and drove through Idaho and Utah the next day. And pulled into Little America, WY. Saturday night. Sunday morning we drove to Cheyenne and met the family at Holiday Park...what a great time!

How great was that...to come to the park and sit down with family and enjoy the food and their company!!! But, we had to leave after a few hours and followed Kelly and Etienne to Ft. Collins, CO and spent the night (thank you for letting us stay with you!). Monday morning we got to go for a little open Jeep ride to Horse Tooth Reservoir...lots of fun!  Then we drove to Denver to see Nancy Dyer. We miss Uncle Orv and it was good to hold Nancy and tell her so. We stayed at Nancy's and enjoyed seeing all of the Dyers in Denver.  On Wednesday morning we were back on the road toward Interstate 80. We stopped in Twin Falls, Idaho for the night. And drove into Portland on Thursday evening. Quick trip...but, worth every second. More good stuff to come!

So, I noticed I posted several Fords...here's a few others...

More car show favorites....so many cars...so little time!

We were up with the chickens on Sunday, June 22nd, and on the road north to Lynden, WA to visit our grandson, Zach. We met Brian, Zach, and Tyler at Bobz Burgers in Mount Vernon, WA. Zach went with us to Bellingham and we stayed at the Comfort Inn. We took Zach bowling, dinner at Red Robin, and swimming at the motel. Zach is really into sports! The next morning Zach and I went to the workout room and more swimming (and Jacuzzi). We had a really good breakfast at the motel, then drove to the Sipma house in Lynden. It was good to see Jill and Brooklyn again. We said our good-byes and drove back home. BUT, on the way home we stopped at Spiffy's and had a cinnamon roll - the world's best!!!
Lots of fun, good to see Brian, Jill and family! More pictures and stuff soon.
Last weekend was exceptional !!! Friday nights Carol & I set aside for our "date night". Carol picked up Mom Peters and we had a great turkey dinner. Saturday morning, I got up early and went to the gym, filled up the van with gas, and loaded up for the weekend. Our first stop was Grand Ronde - we had breakfast at the buffet at Spirit Mountain...then...the car show. Show 'n Shine is in its second year. Here's a few of my favorites...

I took way too many pictures, but I'll share a few at a time. By mid-afternoon we were on our way to Lincoln City. The Christmas Shop got some more of our money :) And we checked into Liberty Inn.
Carol got us tickets (weeks ago) for Diamond Rio - what a great concert!!! Good seats too.

(This is a Jack Roush Mustang - his signatures all over)

Fireworks after the concert (over the ocean) were spectacular!!! We had to turn in early for the trip to Lynden, WA on Sunday.

Saturday, June 14, 2014

The girls are visiting from Ft. Collins. And we had a little birthday gathering for Madison Wednesday the 11th of June. But...before this we went to John's Incredible Pizza - Maddy picked it out!

I can't believe Mikayla is driving and Maddy is 12. Grace is 7 going on 30.

The cake was really good, moist chocolate and great frosting!!! Went great with ice cream :)
More to come...soon.
