Time has slipped away from me again...I really need to catch everyone up on current activities!!!

October 15th (Saturday) Carol and I picked up Jim & Vonnie Lash and headed North to Suquamish, WA. to hear Home Free do a live concert. They were great...just like always! We stayed at Clearwater Casino and it was very nice. The hotel seemed like it was built yesterday. Stormy weekend, but fun and the scenery was wonderful. We spent the night and drove home the next day.

The following Friday, October 21st, Carol and I spent the weekend at Pelican Shores, Lincoln City, OR. We HAD to stop at the Christmas Cottage...our favorite place to stop and shop. Saturday we had reserved seats to see Michael McDonald ( former lead singer for the Doobie Brothers). He was soooo good!!! He appologized for having a cold, but I couln't tell!
We got caught up in the World Series...go Cubbies!!! Good come back, and win!
Tuesday, November 8th, we went to Eugene with Clay, Cindy, and Chad Nagel for a concert at the Matthew Knight Arena - Earth, Wind & Fire with Chicago!!! Yeah Buddy...that was a good one!
We knew most of the songs and had a great time! We got home at about 1:00a.m. :) It was hard to get up the next morning!!!
Gotta close for now...more to come!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last update...way too many things going on!!! I'll try to pick up where I left off...we did move Mom Peters to Rosewood over the Labor Day weekend. And had a Birthday get-together with Jim and Vonnie Lash...lots of fun...and Vonnie is now a year older :)

September 24th was a SOLVE beach clean up for me...I volunteered for Seaside Beach. It wasn't raining and we picked up lots of junk! You can view it on SOLVE's web site.

The next day we took Jim & Vonnie to Seattle (Jazz Alley) for a Brian Culbertson concert!!! And we got to visit with their son Eric at his place in Auburn. We stayed overnight in Renton, WA.

Mom Peters 90th Birthday was on Tuesday, September 27th...Carol picked up Mom and we had dinner and cake with the Lash's and Rangel's.

Carol's Birthday was on September 30th...but, we celebrated early with the Lash's on September 24th. Jim fixed dinner at their place...roast turkey..mmmmm!

Last weekend, October 1st, we picked up Mike and Sheri Dyer flew into Portland for the weekend. The main object was to see as much of the Oregon culture as possible. So, we picked them up at the airport and headed for Multnomah Falls. Once we got there, we took the trails to the top of the falls. Then, on to Mount Hood...Timberline Lodge. We saw some snow fall...but, it didn't stick...too warm.
We came down from the mountain and drove to visit Mom Peters. Sunday, we got up and headed west to Lincoln City. The Christmas Cottage was our first stop...love that place!!! We drove up the coast to Tillamook and visited the cheese factory (great ice cream!!!). Then on to Cannon Beach where we walked on the beach and ate at Mo's. Carol and I had Monday off and we drove around Portland and visited Pittock Mansion. In the evening, we went to the Blazer's first pre-season basketball game against the Utah Jazz. Good game...we won by 9 points. Back to work for Carol and me on Tuesday. And Mike and Sheri rented a car and drove to Seattle.
More news and pictures soon!

We want to express our deepest "Thank You's" to Nancy Dyer and Jim & Vonnie Lash for all the help on September 1st and 2nd in moving Mom Peters into her new appartment at Rosewood. It's a smaller space than she was used to at Rock Creek, but the additional care is increasingly depended upon. We put Jim's truck to work moving the custom made TV center, the blown glass cabinet, all the bedroom furniture, and living room/dinning room furniture. After everything was packed up and moved to the new location, Carol and Vonnie cleaned the old appartment top to bottom. Then, we started placing all the furniture where we thought it might fit and unpacking "basic needs" boxes. The important thing was getting Comcast activated for Mom's TV. All of this was done on Thursday, September 1st. Friday, we unpacked boxes, hung pictures, and tried to put things in the cabinets as they were originally. And we got the phone service transferred. We took the afternoon off and drove Mom and Nancy to Cannon Beach (Mo's) for dinner...beautiful day!!!
Saturday we worked around our house, and Sunday a.m. we took Nancy to the airport. What a whirlwind trip for her! Thanks to everyone again...will post more updates soon.

Sunday, August 28, 2016

So...our August seems pretty uneventful after working in Cheyenne last month! Carol has been working very hard in trying to get Mom Peters into a facility that will give her more help with medications, etc. And it looks like we'll be moving Mom from Rock Creek to Rosewood Retirement Community on September 1st. Nancy Dyer is flying in on the 31st..and we can't wait to see her again!
Jim & Vonnie Lash are helping us do the physical move (on the 1st) ...we'll put Jim's Dodge Truck to work that day :).
In the middle of all our "busyness" we still find time to take -time out! Thursday was a very hot day in Beaverton...so, after work I suggested we head for the beach and have dinner at Mo's. A few minutes later we were in the Honda and cruisin' down highway 26.

It was a perfect evening to relax on the beach and enjoy some 74 degree weather. But...when the sun went down and the wind picked up...the sweatshirt went on!
Hope everyone had a good summer...September is coming fast...before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving! Will post more soon.

Here's some more DEMO pictures at Mom's house:

Now, all these walls are gone and this is all thay's left:

Monday, July 25, 2016

Carol and I loaded the CR-V on Thursday afternoon (July 14th) and headed for Cheyenne, WY. Our mission was to help demolish the "add-on" section of Mom Wegner's house, along with Don, Chris, Bob, Mike, Mom, and all the volunteers from Ft. Collins. We spent the night in Pendleton, OR. Friday, we drove to Evanston, WY. Saturday we arrived in Cheyenne, WY about 2:00p.m. After unloading suitcases and bags at Little America, we headed for Hillsdale, WY.

This is the BEFORE picture. Notice the door location. Don, Chris, Carol and I started inside and removed the carpet and padding. Then, we went up on the roof and removed asphalt tiles :(
Walls and ceiling lost their inside coverings. Insulation was removed. Electrical outlets and overhead lighting was removed. Outside siding was removed and roofing boards came off. Windows came out, walls came down, and the door was removed.

Don and Bob framed in a new door and window. I helped re-route some electrical lines. So, Mom got a new porch out of the deal and Don and Chris put siding on after we left on Wednesday, July 20th.

Today, Saturday July 9th, 2016 we went to the Veterans Car Show in Beaverton. No threat of rain, but it got cloudy sometimes. So, here's a few pics we took:

So many cars...so little time :)  I'll post more pics soon !

Sunday, June 19, 2016

So, a few pictures from yesterday's trip to Grand Ronde, 18 June, car show (in the rain) :

I didn't take a lot of pictures, it started raining pretty steady. So, we had breakfast and drove home.
Last Sunday, 12 June 2016, we went to the airport and got to visit a little with Mikayla, Madison, and Grace. It was Madison's Birthday :)  We talked with The Douglas family for a little while, then rushed to the other end of the airport to pick up Kelly, Savannah, and Jackson. After a short nap session we had a small window of good weather at the coast...so, Cannon Beach was our destination !!

The wind was pretty strong, so we didn't stay too long. But, the kids got to "go to the beach" and I got my ocean fix. We had lots of fun visiting and catching up on what the kids are up to this summer.

Thursday we took Kelly and the kids back to the airport :(   Carol and I had breakfast and went to Hillsboro to look at a Honda we've had our eyes on...

We traded the 2002 Ford van in on this 2016 CRV. We took it to Grand Ronde yesterday for the Car Show and got 32.9 MPG :)
Will share pictures of the car show soon. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all you Dad's out there!!!

I honestly don't know where the time goes! So much has happened since my last posting!! Here goes...hope I can remember everything :)

On Saturday, 21 May, we went to Clay and Cindy Nagel's house for dinner, along with the  Lash's and the Bartlow's. After dinner we all went to Lake Oswego and attended the play "Man of La Mancha". I've seen it done before, and thought they did a great job! Fun night out!

Friday, 27 May, Carol and I packed up the van and headed for Redding, CA to visit with Roberta and the kids. Great weather and smooth driving all the way. It was really great to see everyone and the kids are growing like weeds!!! Charity and Joy brought their families and we had a BBQ while the kids were swimming. The added bonus was... we got to talk to Andrew on the phone. We had to leave in the late afternoon and stopped at Seven Feathers in Cannyonville, OR overnight. Sunday morning we were back on the road home. This was the Memorial Day weekend, so I had Monday off.

Today, 12 June, we're getting ready for Kelly and the girls to fly in from Denver. So, I'll post more soon and do better with pictures!

Sunday, May 15, 2016

On Friday, 13 May 2016, we had a few chores to complete prior to headding for Lincoln City. Haircut, lawn, gym, and a visit with Mom Peters....then load the van and head west. We stopped on the North side of Lincoln City and had dinner at McMinnamins - cloudy and cool...54 degrees. Then, a nice walk on the beach while things were still warm and dry.

I got up the next morning to get my coffee and it was pouring! But, that never stopped us before...on to the Christmas Cottage to pick up a few things. We had lunch at the buffet at Grand Ronde...if you go late morning, you still get breakfast items and lunch stuff :) That evening we went to the Bijou Theater and saw the movie Money Monster (really bad language) about the stock market. Today, it was overcast and mid-fifties....breakfast at McDonalds and drive home. Another Great weekend adventure!!! Next outing will be to California in two weeks to see relatives...more then.

Sunday, May 8, 2016

Work has been crazy lately...but, Friday, 6 May, 2016 (after work) we loaded the van and headed for Cannon Beach, OR. We had dinner at Mo's, then took a walk on the beach with Payton. Here's what we got to see...

We put the chairs in the sand and watched the sun go down...great evening! More good stuff soon.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Saturday, April 9th, I helped the Patterson Team breakdown and move all the equipment from the Convention Center, back to the shop. A quick shower and a little dinner...then we picked up Jim & Vonnie Lash and went downtown to the Aladin Theater to hear - HOME FREE. What a great concert!!! If you haven't seen or heard these guys...you need to :) Check them out on youtube!

More good things happening soon!

Thursday, April 7th, the Portland area set a new record high temp. of 80 - so, after work Carol and I took off for Cannon Beach. We had dinner at Mo's after a little walk on the beach.

After the sun went down (behind the clouds on the horizon) all the clouds turned bright pink. Lots of people had camp fires going...great night!!!

Monday, March 28, 2016

The weekend started Saturday, March 26th, at Seaside, OR. I volunteered for beach clean-up. I go twice a year along with about 4,000 other people.

After I got home, I washed the van and loaded up for Sunday, mowed the grass, and got cleaned up for dinner. Jim & Vonnie Lash and Mom Peters were over for BBQ - Hamburgers, etc. We had a rousing game of Pinochle (girls won again!).
Sunday we went over to Mom's place and visited a while. Then, we headed for Izzy's in McMinnville, OR for Easter Brunch. On to Lincoln City where we took in a movie Big Fat Greek Wedding II. We checked into Pelican Shores at 4:00 pm. Thought I'd post a couple of pics from there...

On the way home today, we stopped and had lunch at Grand Ronde with Jim & Vonnie! Now it's back to work and face reality :) Will post more soon!

Monday, March 14, 2016

Saturday, March 12, 2016 we went to The Rock and had pizza with Jim & Vonnie Lash. Then, a rousing game of pinochle (guys eeked out a 2 to 1 victory). Sunday. we tied up some loose ends and got a few things done. Then, we loaded the van and headed North to Seattle, WA. We had tickets for dinner and to hear ... Jeffery Osborne (again)...love that guy!!!

I took this picture as he was signing our CD's during "meet 'n greet" - after the concert. Great evening at Jazz Alley...then we drove to Renton, WA and stayed at the Hilton Gardens Inn. It rained on us all the way there and most of the way home. High winds from time to time. But, that didn't stop us from stopping at Spiffy's for a cinnamon roll today!!!
Hope everyone is doing well. We'll post more soon!

Sunday, February 28, 2016

We had a couple of hard weeks (in the past), but we're looking foreward to getting back to our normal routine. Carol's virus is gone and we're trying to get Mom Peters back to good health - cold symptoms.
Saturday, 27 February, I got up...went to the gym...came home and mowed the grass...then, loaded the van. Carol and I took off for Hood River, OR...just for the night. We checked in at about 3:00 p.m. and went for a walk along the "riverwalk" pathway. Dinner reservations were at 6:00 p.m. at the hotel restaurant.

Great dinner...overlooking the Columbia River at night! Their exercise room and jaccouzzi were next to each other...and I took advantage of both on Sunday morning.
Hope everyone is going well. Our next adventure is Jazz Alley in Seattle, WA,  13 March to see Jeffery Osborne!

Saturday, February 20, 2016

It's been a long time since the last entry...way too much work and not enough play time!!! January 30th, Saturday evening, we went to dinner in McMinnville with Jim & Vonnie Lash...Ruby Tuesday!
Then, on to Grand Ronde for the concert...Average White Band had the first hour and Tower Of Power had the second hour. Great show and I really enjoyed the two saxaphones in AWB! Very nice evening!
February has been filled with lots of work, tax preperation, and more work. Carol has been pretty sick with the virus that likes to attck your throat and sinus! It's been three weeks and she's just now feeling "normal". No beach trips, etc. lately....but, we're going to spend next weekend at Hood River, OR.
I'll post more soon and add some pictures.

Monday, January 18, 2016

This weekend was my Birthday weekend. I worked on Saturday, But Sunday, January 17th we took off for Seaside, OR. We stayed at the Hi-Tide Inn on the beach. Our room wasn't ready, so we drove to Astoria and went to a movie - 13 Hours - not for kids or those with a faint heart.

We came back to Seaside and checked in to the Motel. By then, we were ready for dinner - Nonni's Italian Restaurant. I love to open the sliding door to the ocean and listen to the crashing waves!!! Perfect weather for Oregon - 51 degrees and no rain. We got up this morning and headed down the coast - cut over to Grand Ronde for the buffet luncheon - life is good!
I want to thank everyone for the cards, letters and phone calls on my Birthday weekend...it was great to heard from friends and relatives! I sure would like NOT to have any more! I'm getting too old for this stuff.
Back to Grand Ronde on 30 January for a concert - Average White Band and Tower of Power.

Saturday, January 2, 2016

I received new wedding pictures from Lynette and Ken yesterday...thought I'd share:

We're just now getting around to thanking everyone for the cards and gifts during the Christmas Season. We enjoy hearing from all of our friends and relatives...it's getting harder to keep up with everyone and all the events in our lives! But, it's all good!
Thursday, Dec 24th, we took Mom Peters to Grand Ronde for the best buffet in Oregon :)  (I hurt myself..way too good) It was cold, and cloudy...typical Oregon winter weather.
Friday, Dec 25th, Carol whipped up a great Christmas Ham Dinner! That evening Carol transformed our house from Christmas wonderland back to "normal". All of the Christmas decor rests in the attic :)
Making plans for 2016! Taxes, concerts, vacations...we'll try to keep everyone posted! Happy New Year!
